A paper in Environmental Health Perspectives links organophosphate (OP) insecticide exposures during fetal development to predisposition to metabolic syndrome. A key new mechanism leading to adverse developmental outcomes is described – alteration of the trajectory of cell signaling in liver cells “…in a manner consistent with the observed emergence of prediabetes-like metabolic dysfunction.”
